There are different types of Dental implants depending on their size, design, mechanism and the location where they have to be placed. They are simplified as Endosteal implants & Subperiosteal implants.
Endosteal implants are small screws, cylinders or plates placed in the jawbone which are used most commonly.
Subperiosteal implants are placed beneath the gum and above the jawbone. These implants are suggested to patients who have shallow jawbone or don't want to undergo a procedure to rebuild it.
After the overall diagnosis, Dr Biswajit Panda will determine which implant is right for you depending on the tooth that needs to be replaced.
At Whitezone, we use an alternative or Minimally Invasive techniques for dental implants depending upon the need, condition of the jaw bone and patients concern.
Following are the procedure performed for Dental Implants at Whitezone is:
Immediate Dental Implants procedure also called as "Same Day Dental Implants" or "Teeth In A Day". The advantage of Immediate load Dental Implant is, you don't have to wait for the tooth until the implant fuses with your bone. In this procedure, the dentist places an implant along with a temporary tooth on it in the same appointment. After your dental visit, you can do your daily work without any hesitation while the dental implant fuses with your natural bone. Once the implant fused completely with your bone, a long-term custom crown will be placed in about three to six months.
The procedure is not appropriate for all the patients but beneficial for those patients who have enough natural bone which secures enough to support immediate placement and force on the temporary tooth.
Mini dental implants are smaller in the diameter and size than the commonly used dental implant sizes. These implants are referred to those patients who are not a candidate for traditional dental implant surgery and used to secure lower loose dentures.
It is an alternative approach for the replacement of complete missing teeth in the mouth. The implants are placed in the jaw bone to stabilize the replacement teeth to avoid bone grafting. Special abutments placed on the implants allow a set of temporary teeth on the same day. The patients will be asked to take a modified diet and medication to heal gum tissue and the implant integrates with natural bone. Approximately six months after, the final customized bridge is then placed and the patient can resume his normal diet.
This procedure involves several appointments, including consultations, treatment planning, dental implants procedure and placement of temporary teeth followed by dental check-ups in between the six months healing period and then final bridge.
